Hytrin (Terazosin) is a medication used to treat hypertension. Terazosin is in the group of medications called alpha-blockers.
This drug decreases high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and allowing blood to flow more easily. Reducing high blood pressure helps in turn to prevent such serious conditions as stroke, heart attack, and kidney disorder.
Hytrin is also used for the treatment of an enlarged prostate in men. It works by relaxing the prostate to improve urine flow and makes urinating easier.
Terazosin is also used to get rid of kidney stones through urination and to treat bladder problems in women.
Hytrin medication is taken by mouth, usually once daily. People, who experience stomach upset, can use this medication with food or milk.
